Earth Abides Farm

The four hour drive to Earth Abides Farm wasn't so bad after all. At first the car trip seemed long but really it kind of felt quick. The amazing experience/moment I will never forget was when we started to drive through the trees. I have never really smelt true nature before. And let me tell you! The smell was so natural and amazing! When driving by,  it was quite and loved the way the air started to hit my face. Everything was just so beautiful and breath taking. When we finally arrived to the farm. My first reaction was WOW! It looked so cute and amazing at the same time. Meeting Tom and Marcus for the first time made me feel very comfortable with them. They were very opened to one another and they always kept us interested with stories they told. On the trip I got to be more closer to my peers which was a great experience. I personally had an amazing time. My favorite part was when we took the hike in the afternoon to see the sunset. The hike was pretty enjoyable and the moment  I saw the sunset I was breath taken. The colors were just beautiful. Everyone had a moment of silence and I actually took the time to be with nature and felt what they feel. On the trip I also got to help out on the farm with Marcus the whole time. I really liked helping and had fun. Having the council meeting with the entire group was also something I really enjoyed. But overall, the entire trip was just an amazing experience and I really do hope to go their next time.

Black Mountain Trip

Even though I did not go on the trip to black mountain with my classmates. I did hear a lot of exciting experiences from my friends about the trip. They were telling me that they really enjoyed the view of the sunset and that it was really breath taking. Setting up the tents were a hassle but fun at the same time because everyone bonded with each other. Also said that the 2 mile hike was somewhat difficult due to the heat ,but once as everyone reached to the point where they were suppose to meet they felt really accomplished. Knowing that everyone was really close to each other and bonded made me realize that I missed out on a great opportunity.  I do regret of not going to black mountain with my class because I know that I would have enjoyed it very much and really experienced the nature surrounding me. These little moments do  mean a big thing to me I just really hope that one day I can do this with  as group of friends.

Potrero Nuevo Farm Experience

A farm really? Why are we going to a farm for service learning? These questions popped into my head to be honest. Truthfully speaking, I actually believed that the farm was going to be boring and not that exciting. But once I stepped foot onto the warm dirt I felt something changed in me. Looking at all the natural materials surrounding me, I had the feeling that everything here on the farm was well taken care of and really I just felt a lot of love in the air. I was really hyped about helping the farm and doing service because I know it would benefit the community and certain individuals. The one thing that I really enjoyed doing the most was harvesting the potatoes. Even though it was a little messy, I really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun with my friends from school. What made my day the most was seeing bear. Oh my gosh, bear is so big and fluffy! He was such a sweet and loving dog. The funny part I liked about bear was that he was digging holes with us too! That was really cute and he would lay in the dirt which was funny. Seeing all the chickens was amazing because they were so many of them of all kinds of sorts and they all looked really beautiful. But overall, the whole farm was breath taking and amazing. I really enjoyed myself and hope to be back soon to help out more.
